It's hard for stem cell stories in skincare to stay accessible and aspirational without resorting to weird science or fantastical claims.

So we built the Augustinus Bader brand - from scratch to launch - around the brand platform Revolutionary science, biological wisdom: a celebration of the wonders of the human body, and what we can do to support the skin's remarkable natural processes.

By talking about the awe-inspiring truth of the body, we could convey product benefits while maintaining humility and plausibility - a refreshing distinction from the overclaim and sensationalism of the luxury skincare market.

Photography

We enrolled Magnum photographer Christopher Anderson to shoot models Georgina Grenville, Charlotte Carey and Wilson Oryema for website and launch assets. Our brief - ‘reframe the body’ - asked him to innovate with light, angles and crops to create naturalistic, sculptural compositions challenging audiences to see the human body in new ways.

WEBSITE & EDITORIAL

Established initially as an online only, DTC brand, our website had to act as both an intuitive shopping experience and the complete online hub for audiences to learn more about the new skincare brand and Professor Bader’s stem cell research.

We supplemented this dual-track approach with an editorial offering, engaging audiences in all aspects of wellness around our core brand belief in the wisdom of the body. As well as brand editorial created in-house, we commissioned original pieces including poetry by Greta Bellamacina and contributions from anthropologists, psychology writers and skincare professionals.
